As rising home prices and a housing supply shortage continue to threaten the Canadian dream of home ownership, OREA’s role in advocating for home owners and those aspiring to join their ranks has become so much more important. OREA advocates on behalf of Ontario home owners to all levels of government to ensure they are able to achieve their dreams of home ownership, and maintain affordable ownership through lower taxes.
For instance, as of January 1, 2017, first-time home buyers can now receive a $4,000 rebate on the purchase of their new home. The rebate has been doubled from $2,000.
We are fighting to protect Ontario home owners against time-of-listing mandatory home energy audits.
Mandatory audits will drive up the costs of selling a home and threaten a home owner’s hard-earned equity.
